An honest checklist

Which solution suits your skin?

Every body tells a different story. What matters is not only that you have lost weight, but how your skin has responded. We see three typical starting points in our daily practice:

  • Fine laxity, no large folds of skin, wish for quick recovery → RENUVION® as a minimally invasive option.
  • Marked excess skin, functional restrictions, wish for a visible change of contour → surgical skin tightening (abdominal wall, arms, thighs or body lift).
  • Excess skin and fat deposits at the same time → a combination of liposuction and RENUVION®, or a body lift.

A basic prerequisite is a stable weight – it gives the result lasting quality. Anyone who is still in the middle of losing weight should first consolidate their target weight; we advise you honestly on this.

What is really true

The most common myths about body contouring

  1. “Exercise makes the skin tighten up again”Unfortunately not. After major weight loss, the skin has often lost so much elasticity that it no longer retracts sufficiently even with training. Exercise is important – but it is no tool against pronounced excess skin.
  2. “Skin tightening is purely cosmetic”That is not quite right. Excess skin can lead to recurrent skin inflammation, fungal infections in skin folds, restricted movement and psychological strain. In such cases a treatment can be medically indicated.
  3. “The fat comes back somewhere else”In liposuction, the fat cells in the treated area are removed permanently; if your weight is stable, the result is maintained. Those who gain weight again afterwards build up fat in other regions – a healthy lifestyle remains decisive.
  4. “Always a major procedure”Not automatically any more. Many treatments in the RESHAPE programme are possible minimally invasively, as an outpatient or with a short inpatient stay. Downtime is therefore considerably shorter than it was a few years ago.

Making change measurable

Your 3D Bodyscan

For your health, body weight is not everything. What matters is how your body is made up of its components and how it changes during the course of treatment.

Using laser technology, the Weight Doctors® create a digital avatar of you in a 3D Bodyscan. This lets you see over the course of therapy how body measurements, physiological values, balance and posture change – objectively and measurably. At the Wertheim location, two 3D Bodyscans are included in the RESHAPE treatment.

What Weight Doctors® RESHAPE costs depends on the treatment chosen, its extent and the medical indication; you will find the current starting price on the Weight Doctors® RESHAPE page. All treatments are carried out by specialists in plastic and aesthetic surgery with experience in post-bariatric procedures.

To keep the costs plannable, financing through our partner medipay is possible with terms of up to 72 months (subject to a credit check). More under Payment in instalments.

RESHAPE treatments too can in many cases be claimed for tax purposes as extraordinary expenses where there is a medical indication in line with the guidelines. Check this with your tax adviser – the tax benefit calculator gives a first estimate.

Who is RESHAPE suitable for?

RESHAPE is aimed at patients who have reached their target weight and now also want to round off their journey aesthetically. A prerequisite is a stable weight. Whether after bariatric surgery, a gastric balloon, the Weight Doctors SLEEVE® or GLP-⁠1 therapy: in a consultation with no obligation, we check which treatment suits your situation.

Does German statutory health insurance cover the costs?

Aesthetically motivated procedures are generally not covered by German statutory health insurers. Where there is a medical indication in line with the guidelines – for example recurrent skin inflammation, functional restrictions or considerable psychological strain – there is a chance of cost coverage; your health insurer decides on a case-by-case basis. We take care of the application and all documents for your health insurer completely. Treatments with cost coverage take place at the Weight Doctors® Nationalklinik in Wertheim am Main.

What distinguishes RENUVION® from surgical tightening?

RENUVION® is a minimally invasive method in which the skin is tightened using helium plasma energy – without large incisions and with a short recovery time. It is suitable for fine skin laxity. With marked excess skin, surgical tightening is the more effective procedure. Which path suits you is clarified in the consultation.

Can I combine RESHAPE with other Weight Doctors® treatments?

Yes, expressly. One example: you lose weight permanently with the Weight Doctors SLEEVE® and then round off your journey with RESHAPE – or you stabilise your new silhouette after RESHAPE with GLP-⁠1. RESHAPE is also possible after a gastric balloon or bariatric surgery.

Do I have to decide straight away?

No. At the Weight Doctors®, the conversation comes before the treatment – not the other way round. An initial consultation with no obligation is possible by telephone, video or on site. Only once you have decided on a path do things move forward.
