The start of Weight Doctors®
Co-founder Brigitta Lahode tells how the idea for Weight Doctors® arose from many years of accompanying patients – and why the gastric balloon could not be everything.

How it all began

Today I would like to introduce myself and tell you why we founded Weight Doctors®.
My name is Brigitta Lahode. For 14 years I worked for a group of clinics for aesthetic and plastic surgery, where I accompanied and looked after patients from all over Germany on their way to a weight they feel comfortable with.
Many sat in my consultation and told me they had already been through countless diets and kept struggling with the yo-yo effect. There were many sad moments with tears and despair. But nothing was lovelier than motivating these people and informing them about the method best suited to them.
The idea
More than a gastric balloon
For example with the gastric balloon – a kind of coach that helps to change eating behaviour and to feel a sense of fullness again. It was lovely to see how many satisfied patients came to us along this route.
In 2019 there was a restructuring at my workplace. I called my former colleague Alexander, who at the time had played a major part in building up the weight-loss division at the clinic group. We agreed: the gastric balloon cannot be everything – our patients need a more comprehensive programme.
No sooner said than done. With our many years of experience with patients, our knowledge of the market and our connections with experienced doctors in Germany, we decided to found a company committed to innovative and well-tolerated treatments around weight loss: Weight Doctors®.
What we offer

Our range includes not only the gastric balloon with a wearing time of 4, 6 or 12 months, but also a permanent stomach reduction without incisions and scars – today the Weight Doctors SLEEVE® – and much more.
